Did you know that sensory tents and headphones are available at many of our libraries?
How sensory tools can help
A sensory tent is an excellent self-regulation tool for children. It reduces sensory input and provides a safe and non-stimulating space for children to calm down and refocus
Sensory headphones have noise-reducing earmuffs that can help children who become overwhelmed or distressed by noise.
Library member and mum Catherine Brooks shared her thoughts on the importance of sensory options:
"Libraries should be a safe space for all community members, and we have certainly enjoyed many quiet moments reading at the library - the sensory tents and headphones are a wonderful addition to the space and will provide comfort to many little readers."
If you would like to avail of any of these sensory options, speak to one of our friendly staff members at your local library.
