National Simultaneous Story Time: The Truck Cat

Monday 28 April 2025

Join us for the 25th annual National Simultaneous Story Time at Geelong Regional Libraries on Wednesday 21 May 2025, as local government representatives, library staff, and board members read The Truck Cat to children across the region.

Coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), this nationwide event promotes the joy of reading and the value of literacy for all.

During the event children around the country will read, or be read, the same book, at the same time. In 2024, NSS saw over 2.3 million children participating on the day.

This year’s featured book is The Truck Cat written by Deborah Frenkel, illustrated by Danny Snell. The Truck Cat is a heartfelt story about a cat named Tinka and his human, Yacoub. As they journey across new landscapes in search of home, an unexpected separation leads them to discover something even more meaningful.
