We are thrilled to offer the unique Story Dogs experience for children at our libraries starting these September school holidays (and more).
If your child loves dogs and needs a little extra help with their reading, this could be the program for them.
Story Dogs is a volunteer-run literacy program that aims to improve children's reading and communication skills by having them read to a specially trained companion dog and its handler in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
The sessions at the library, aimed at children aged 8+, feature small groups of no more than 6 participants and are held in a quiet spot.
Several sessions are taking place at Leopold Library on Tuesday, 26 September and Thursday, 28 September, at Lara Library for the school holidays. Additional sessions are planned for more libraries in the coming months until the end of the year. Details will be available closer to these dates.
All sessions are free, but bookings are essential. For more information, please visit our What's on page.
