COVID-19 Update: Libraries closed until further notice

Monday 23 March 2020

Yesterday, the Premier of Victoria the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP announced a shutdown of non-essential services and activity, to help combat the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our communities.

In response to this directive, and with uncertainty about when we will be able to return to normal operations, all Geelong Regional Library Corporation branches and mobile libraries will be closed until further notice. Library programming, events and outreach services are also suspended until further notice.

Due dates for all physical collection items will automatically be extended until after our libraries re-open. As return chutes at branches will also be closed, we ask that you hold on to any items until libraries re-open. Please be assured that overdue fines will be suspended for the immediate future.

Our many digital services remain available to our members, including eBooks and eAudiobooks, activities for children, streaming TV, movie and music services, digital newspapers and magazines.

While our libraries are closed, we will be investing our energy into finding new and creative ways to deliver services to our communities. We would love to hear your thoughts! If you have ideas about how we can connect with and support the community during this difficult period, please connect with us on social media or send an email to info@grlc.vic.gov.au

We will continue to provide information on our website at www.grlc.vic.gov.au/coronavirus; from this page you can also sign up to receive email updates.

For further information on COVID-19 and how to best manage your risks please visit the Department of Health & Human Services website.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
