*ONLINE* John Baker and Nick Place - Stalin's Wine Cellar

Free

This special partnership event is sponsored by The Ewing Trust and delivered by Yarra Libraries and Geelong Regional Libraries.

Always entrepreneurial and up for an adventure, John Baker was the perfect person to approach with a comprehensive catalogue of the wine collection of Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia, and clues of their whereabouts. Solving this puzzle was the first step in what would become the most unlikely of adventures, taking two men from Double Bay, Sydney, to Tbilisi, Georgia, in search of this legendary wine collection. Join John Baker and Nick Place as they discuss their book, Stalin's Wine Cellar (published by Penguin Random House).

*ONLINE* Analogue Iran by Ali MC

In August and September 2019, documentary photographer Ali MC spent four weeks capturing the diversity of Iran through black and white 35mm film. The result is Analog Iran, an online exhibition which explores the diversity of a country that is often stereotyped in the media.  From the border of Afghanistan to the bustling metropolis of Tehran, these photographs bring to life the everyday lives of Iranian people.  Ali’s work shows the tension between the hospitality and graciousness of the Iranian people, and the constant political and economic pressures of daily life.

Join us for this wonderful presentation of his stunning photographs, and tales of his travels through this amazing part of the world.
