Libraries closed from Thursday 6 August

Monday 3 August 2020

Due to the State Government’s announcement yesterday of Stage 3 Restrictions for regional Victoria, Geelong Regional Library Corporation will be closing all branches and mobile library services from Wednesday 5 August (at the usual branch closing time) for a period of at least six weeks.

While we are disappointed to close our doors again, we remain dedicated to doing our bit to protect the health and wellbeing of our community and our staff. We look forward to seeing our communities when we re-open.

During our closure, external returns chutes will remain open 24 hours a day and collection items can be returned. However, due dates for borrowed items have been extended until libraries re-open and no fines will be issued during this period.

We’re pleased to be able to offer a Click & Deliver service while library branches are closed. Starting from  Wednesday 12 August, all Geelong Regional Libraries’ members who live within the City of Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queescliffe, Surf Coast and Golden Plains Shires will be able to access the new delivery service. Members can select up to 20 items (books, magazines, CDs, DVDs) which will be delivered – contactless – to your door. Items will automatically have a loan period of 8 weeks, and you can contact us to arrange an extension. Each member is eligible for one delivery each month. More information about this service will be shared on our website and via social media in the coming days

During lockdown, we recommend you also visit our Your Library @ Home - a hub for entertaining, educational and informative video content, podcasts, downloadable resources and links for children, young people and adults.

Our eCollection is available to all library members, and includes a wide range of eBooks, eAudiobooks, newspapers, magazines and film, video and content, plus a range of useful and interesting resources; find it here.|

Physical library events and programs remain suspended until further notice; however we are pleased to continue to offer diverse and high quality online events. You can also access recordings of previous events dating back to March 2020. See our online Story Time@Home events here, upcoming and past author talks here, and all online events and workshops here.

To stay up-to-date with the latest news from the library, we recommend you sign up for our monthly eNewsletter, follow us on social media and keep an eye on the dedicated Coronavirus page on our website, which will be updated regularly.

For further information on COVID-19 and how to best manage your risks please visit the Department of Health & Human Services website.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We hope you and your loved ones keep safe during this difficult time.
