We’re reviewing our mobile library services across Golden Plains and the Bellarine, and we’re inviting community feedback to help guide its future.
Our mobile libraries are an important way we connect communities to library services. As we look ahead, we want to make sure these services continue to meet local needs in a practical way.
We’ve identified some challenges that impact our ability to provide you with consistent and flexible mobile libraries. This includes the fixed time periods of visiting schedules and vehicle maintenance that affects service provision.

FAQs
Why are you reviewing the mobile library service?
Our mobile libraries play an important role in connecting communities to library services.
As we plan for the future, we want to make sure the service is reliable, flexible and easy to access.
There are some challenges with the current model, including:
Will library services be reduced?
No, we’re not reducing library services. We’re exploring different ways to deliver services that may better suit local communities. This could include options such as pop-up libraries at community facilities (with library staff present), or 24/7 library lockers in smaller towns, which allows residents to collect and return items at a time that suits them.
Your feedback will help shape what these services look like.
Can I still borrow books in the meantime?
Absolutely. The mobile library continues to operate on its current timetable during this consultation. Nothing changes while we're seeking your input.
How do I know my feedback will be listened to?
All feedback will be compiled into a community summary report. This report will capture your feedback and share the key themes of the engagement to GRLC leadership and Councils to inform their future design and budget planning processes. The outcome of the consultation will also be published on our website.
