23 June 2025
We’re excited to share that Chilwell Library is getting a major upgrade!
To allow construction to begin, Chilwell Library will close from Saturday 29 June, with reopening expected in mid 2026.
The library will more than double in size and be transformed into a brighter, more flexible and welcoming space for the whole community. Based on community feedback, the new design will keep the warm, friendly feel of the current library, be more accessible and functional, and connect better with the surrounding park.
The upgraded library will include new meeting rooms, an outdoor deck, and public toilets.
During the closure, there will be no access to the building and no returns accepted at Chilwell Library.
You’re very welcome to visit nearby libraries at:
The redevelopment is thanks to the City of Greater Geelong (COGG) and the Victorian Government Living Libraries Infrastructure Program grant.
For more information on the redeveloment project, please visit the COGG website.
Thanks for your understanding while we work to create a better Chilwell Library for everyone. Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates as the project progresses.
