VCE SPECIAL EVENT: Maxine Beneba Clarke - Foreign Soil

This special session will allow students studying 'Foreign Soil' as part of their VCE to deepen their understanding of the text through Maxine’s comprehensive talk covering her writing process and themes of race, resilience and diversity.  Maxine's presentation will be followed by a thirty minute Q & A especially for students.  Teachers and parents are welcome.

Shokoofeh Azar - The Enlightenment of the Greengage Tree

Don’t miss this chance to meet and hear former journalist and writer Shokoofeh Azar discuss her novel 'The Enlightenment of the Greengage Tree'.  Forced to leave Iran with her family in 2011, she was accepted as a political refugee by Australia; Shokoofeh has made her home locally. Her extraordinarily powerful novel has been short-listed for this year’s Stella Prize and is set in Iran as a reimagining of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Written in the lyrical magical realism style of classical Persian storytelling.
