Dr Jordan Nguyen - Using Technology to Create an Inclusive Society

Dr Jordan Nguyen is a young man on a mission to change the world. Upon completing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney, he was accepted into the prestigious UTS Chancellor’s List. Drawing on his experience of almost breaking his own neck, he developed a mind-controlled smart wheelchair for people with high-level physical disability. Now as founder of Psykinetic, he designs life-changing technologies focusing on intelligent, futuristic and inclusive technology.
A special event for the 2017 Digital Innovation Festival Victoria in partnership with TAC and City of Greater Geelong Community Development.

Do you feel the urge to use interesting words in interesting ways? Join our writing group at the Dome. Keep a journal, contribute to a group blog, try out different writing techniques and share your writing with the group. Bring your own device or use the library facilities. At the end of the year we will produce a small book of writing by the members of the group.

This sensory-rich story time is for all children, and especially children with sensory processing disorders. These sessions accommodate delayed motor skill development and include opportunities for children to interact, with less sitting and more action. Audio stimulation is limited and group size is small.

Peace Cranes For Peace

The traditional Japanese origami paper crane is a world-wide recognizable symbol of peace. Come along to a workshop and join in this project of gifting peace, healing and harmony in the world by creating paper peace cranes. The Peace Cranes created will be collected and displayed in exhibits around Geelong in time for International Day of Peace on 21st September 2017.
