As darkness falls, the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre rises! This year’s annual Geelong After Dark adventures include a number of unusual, interactive performances and installations at the library. One such treat will be Boombox Requests - for one night only get on your leg warmers and go totally 80s! Or join the musical comedy troupe ‘Impromptunes’ who will bring a mischievous mix of improv and musical theatre. See you when the sun goes down… No bookings required.

Join Pam Jennings from the Bellarine Historical Society to learn more about what happened following WWI in the Ocean Grove and Wallington area. Pam’s talk will focus on memorials, the post-war struggle of returned soldiers, Red Cross societies and peace celebrations in the area.

‘OUR NED’ - FIRST LIBRARIAN OF THE GEELONG PUBLIC LIBRARY

As part of the 2019 Australian Heritage Festival, 'meet' the first Librarian of the Geelong Public Library, Mr Edward Purdue (played by Ben Mitchell from Geelong Repertory Theatre Company). In this theatrically-inspired presentation, Dr Coralie Jenkin presents the story of the rather rascally ‘Our Ned’, who in 1878 absconded with Geelong Library funds, abandoning his wife in the process. Join us for an exposé of one of Geelong’s most colourful public characters.
