There are two main outcomes from a DNA test for family history purposes: ethnicity estimates and DNA matches. This presentation looks at both but with more emphasis on DNA matches and how you can solve your family history puzzles. It also examines the impact of doing a DNA test on you, your family and others. Presented by genealogist, historian and researcher Susie Zada.

Join Pam Jennings from the Bellarine Historical Society to learn more about what happened following WWI in the local area. Pam’s talk will focus on memorials, the post-war struggle of returned soldiers, Red Cross societies and peace celebrations in the area.

Heritage Centre staff will be exploring Surf Coast history through interesting maps, photographs and other resources held in the Geelong Heritage Centre.

This special exhibition, developed from the Geelong Heritage Centre's Archive Collection, has been created to commemorate the Centenary of Armistice Day on 11 November 1918. The exhibition explores many themes including the reactions to the end of WWI, peace celebrations, welcoming home the men and women returning from war and life after WWI for people in our region. Remembering the End will appeal to students from upper primary and all secondary levels as it explores local WWI ANZAC involvement and the impact of WWI on our local communities.
