When Grandpa Whistled is Maxine Flakemore's latest children's book, is the story of her father, Neville, as told through his unique whistle. The illustrations depict the many changes that happened through his life and his love of animals. Join Maxine to find out how she creates her wonderful illustrations in sepia ink and ‘inktense’ crayons and create your own drawing to help us celebrate the launch.

PLAYING THE GHOST: GEELONG’S GUISERS AND GHOST HOAXERS OF THE VICTORIAN ERA

Learn about the fascinating and peculiar fad of the late 19th century where young people 'played the ghost', disguising themselves in elaborate ghost and monster costumes accentuated with phosphorescent paint, in an attempt to scare people at night. Presented by Dr David Waldron, Lecturer in History and Anthropology, School of Education and Arts, Federation University.
