Public holiday information

Wednesday 7 October 2020

Please be advised that our libraries will be unstaffed on the following dates.

Library branches observe public holidays according to the municipality they are located in.

On days when libraries are unstaffed, phones will not be answered and our Click & Collect service will not be operating, however return chutes will remain open.

Friday 16 October - Geelong Show Day:

  • Bannockburn Library will be unstaffed.
  • All other branches will be staffed.

Wednesday 21 October - Geelong Cup Day:

  • All library branches located in the City of Greater Geelong will be unstaffed.
  • The Geelong Regional Libraries’ administrative headquarters will be closed.
  • The Bellarine and Surf Coast Mobile Library will not stop at Portarlington.
  • Torquay Library will be staffed.
  • Queenscliff Library will be closed in preparation for move to temporary location.

Friday 23 October – Friday before AFL Grand Final:

  • All Geelong Regional Libraries’  branches will be unstaffed.
  • Mobile Libraries will not operate.
  • The Geelong Regional Libraries’ administrative headquarters will be closed.

Tuesday 3 November - Melbourne Cup Day:

  • Torquay Library will be unstaffed.
  • The Bellarine and Surf Coast Mobile Library will not stop at Aireys Inlet or Lorne.
  • All other Geelong Regional Libraries’ branches – except Queenscliff Library – will be staffed.
  • The Geelong Regional Libraries’ administrative headquarters will be staffed.

Friday 13 November - Ballarat Show Day: 

  • Golden Plains Mobile Library will not be operating.

Election Caretaker Period: until 24 October 2020

Due to local council elections, Geelong Regional Libraries will be in caretaker mode until 24 October. This means we'll be posting on social media and our website less often, and only covering regular programs and operational matters.

Queenscliff Library update

Plans are progressing for the exciting new Queenscliffe Hub, which will house the Library, Museum and Visitor Information Centre. The new facility will be a wonderful resource and shared space for the Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale communities.
