The draft budget has been updated to reflect that the Barwon Heads, Geelong West and Highton libraries will remain open, and Chilwell Library will continue as a staffed library, as confirmed after a meeting with Geelong Regional Libraries’ CEO Vanessa Schernickau and City of Greater Geelong Acting CEO Kaarina Phyland.

At its Board meeting held on Thursday 11 May 2023, the Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) resolved to place the Draft Budget 2023-24 on public exhibition in preparation for adoption on Thursday 22 June 2023.
The draft budget indicates the levels of recurrent income and expenditure, capital works projects to be undertaken during the year and the level of expenditure on library materials. It has been prepared to support the vision, goals and objectives outlined in GRLC’s Connecting and Thriving 2021-25.
In accordance with the Local Government Act 1989, a copy of the proposed budget is available for inspection on the GRLC’s website until Friday 9 June 2023.
Any person may make a written submission on Budget 2023-2024 & Strategic Resource Plan 2023-27 these documents in accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989. They, or their representative, may request to present the submission at a Special Meeting on Thursday 15 June 2023.
Submissions must be lodged no later than close of business Friday 9 June 2023 to the Chief Executive Officer via info@grlc.vic.gov.au or posted to: Attn: Chief Executive Officer, Geelong Regional Library Corporation, 51 Little Malop Street, Geelong VIC 3220.
Following consideration of any submissions, GRLC will meet to adopt the Draft Budget at its Board Meeting on Thursday 22 June 2023 at 5:00pm.
