Click & Deliver

We  are providing a Click & Deliver service to library members who are eligible under our ‘vulnerable person’ criteria or those who are unable access our Click & Collect service or access a library branch.

Please refer to the FAQ section below to read our criteria for ‘vulnerable person’. There will be some flexibility to meet the needs of people who may be experiencing difficulties or access issues – please contact our helpful team on (03) 4201 0625 to discuss your situation.

If you are eligible for Click & Deliver, you can select up to 20 items (books, magazines, CDs, DVDs) which will be delivered – contactless – to your door.  Items will automatically have a loan period of 4 weeks, and you can contact us to arrange an extension. Each member is eligible for one delivery each month.

There are two ways you can request a home delivery:

  1. Submit a request using our online form. Fill in the fields, specify a genre or age (such as picture books, non-fiction etc.) and our team will handpick your items for you.
  2. Phone us on (03) 4201 0658. You will be able to chat to a librarian about what you like and they can make a selection on your behalf. Please have your library card barcode number ready when you call.

After you have submitted your request, a member of our library staff will be in contact to arrange delivery. Please be aware that periods of high demand may affect delivery times - we appreciate your patience.

Strict hygiene procedures are in place to protect our staff, library members and the wider community. All physical collection items (books, DVDs, CDs, Audiobooks) will undergo a 72-hour quarantine on return.

We look forward to delivering your favourite books to your door!

How often can I get a delivery?

Eligible members can get a deliver once every four weeks. Please note, this may change during times of high demand to ensure that all our eligible members can access this service.

What kind of items can I borrow?

You can request any items you like – books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs and CDs.
Please note: Chromebooks, iPads and other electronic devices are not available for a Click and Deliver Service.

How long is the loan period?

All loans will be issued for an extended period of 8 weeks. If you are unable to return items just let us know (by calling your local library) and we can arrange an extension. No fines will be issued during this time.

How many items can I have delivered?

Up to 20 items per month. Please note this total applies to all items – so you may borrow 10 books and 10 magazines, or 20 books, for example.

Is there a minimum number of items I need to request?

No, but please remember eligible members can only have one delivery every four weeks.

Do I have to pay anything for Click & Deliver?

No, this service is totally free.

Can I return the library items?

Yes, library return chutes are now open. Delivery drivers cannot accept your returns.

What safety precautions do you have in place?

Strict hygiene procedures are in place to protect our staff, library members and the wider community. All physical collections items (books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks) will undergo a 72-hour quarantine on return. Staff will be masked and practising excellent hand hygiene. All deliveries will be contactless.

Will my existing holds be included?

Yes. The total of 20 items includes any existing holds.

Do I need to be home when the courier delivers my items?

No. Delivery will occur on the day advised and you are encouraged to nominate a safe, easy to access spot for delivery in our special instructions in case you are out. All deliveries MUST be contactless to ensure safety for all.

If I request 10 items from the online catalogue and only one comes in for my hold in the month, do I have to wait until next month for the others to be delivered?

Yes, you do. We have a cut-off date to organise deliveries and holds that have not arrived will have to wait until the next month for delivery. However, staff will call you to ask if you would like to top up the delivery with items available in branch.

Can you have multiple deliveries to the same address on different cards?

Each person with a membership will be entitled to one delivery per month. Please remember that restrictions around DVDs and CDs will still apply according to the age of the borrower and staff cannot override that.
