Click & Collect

We will continue to provide a Click & Collect service.

You can place bookings via the online form or by calling your local library.

This service will be available at all branches, including mobile libraries (except Western Heights College Library).

Library members residing in our council areas (see ‘Who can use the Click & Collect service?’, below) can now access our contactless Click & Collect service. Members can place holds on up to 30 items (books, magazines, CDs, DVDs), which will have a loan period of 4 weeks.

To place a Click & Collect order, simply:

Place a hold

Place a hold via our online library catalogue and select the branch that you would like to collect your items from*. Have your membership card barcode number and PIN ready (see our guide to placing holds here.) 

Select an appointment date and time

When you are advised that your hold is available, follow the hyperlink included to select a suitable collection time, or click here*. Please note that appointment times are limited; we appreciate your patience. You can also call your local library to arrange a collection time or if you need any help with this process.

Collect your items

Visit your branch at the nominated time to pick up your items – contact-free! Please remain outside the branch and a staff member will provide your items for collection.

* Note: When booking a Click & Collect appointment, please select the branch where your items are being held as your collection location. If you have previously placed a hold and now require your items to be relocated to a different branch for collection, please call your local library. Please note, it may take up to a week for items to be relocated to a different branch.

Our mobile libraries provide a contactless collection service which does not require a booking; for more information, please see the relevant FAQ below.

Who can use the Click & Collect service?

All Geelong Regional Libraries' members who are currently living within the City of Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliffe, Surf Coast Shire and Golden Plains Shire council areas are eligible.

Libraries are currently closed so only our contactless service is available. Please remain outside the library when collecting your order and a staff member will bring your items to the collection point.  Please ensure you comply with physical distancing to support the safety of our staff, who will provide access to your order, contact-free.

How often can I use Click & Collect?

You can place as many Click & Collect orders as you like, but please note that booking windows are limited each day.

If you have requested multiple items, you may need to wait until two two or more of your holds have arrived at the branch before a collection can be organised for you. Speak to your branch for further advice. 

What if I can’t get to my Click & Collect appointment time?

Please call the library you were due to pick your books up from to let them know (find their phone number on our locate page).

If an item is not collected and you have not called to arrange another time, we will try to contact you to make another appointment. If the order is not collected a second time, we will cancel the hold.

What kind of items can I borrow?

You can request any items from our collection you like – books, audio books, magazines, DVDs and CDs. 
Please note: Chromebooks, iPads and other electronic devices are not available for a Click & Collect service.

How long is the loan period?

All loans will be issued for 4 weeks. If you are unable to return items just let us know (by calling your local library) and we can arrange an extension. 

How many items can I include in my order?

You can place holds on up to a maximum of 30 items in a Click & Collect order. Please note this total applies to all items – as an example, you may borrow 20 books and 10 magazines, or 30 books. Please bring your own bag or box to transfer the items to your vehicle if required.

Is there a minimum number of items I need to request?

No, there is no minimum number.

Can I return the library items?

Yes, external return chutes are open as normal.

What safety precautions do you have in place?

All collection appointments will be contactless.

Strict hygiene procedures are in place to protect our staff, library members and the wider community. Staff will be masked and practising excellent hand hygiene.

Will all existing holds be included in my order?

Yes, unless you indicate otherwise or request to release your hold.

Can you have multiple orders for different cards?

Yes. Each person with a membership can use this service. Please remember that restrictions around DVDs and CDs will still apply according to the age of the borrower and staff cannot override that.
